How Classes are to be Judged

MODEL
To be judged on the confirmation of the horse or pony.  To be shown in appropriate tack for your discipline. Model classes will count toward day and year end points.

Fitting and Showmanship
To be shown in a suitable halter (western) or bridle (English), judged on neatness and showmanship of handler and cleanliness of horse and tack.

Walk/Trot, Walk/Jog & Adult Walk/Trot/Jog Equitation and Pleasure
To be shown both ways of the ring at the walk and trot or jog.  To be judged on seat, hands, and control of the horse or pony at the requested gaits.  May be asked to perform a pattern and to back their horse or pony.

Equitation/Horsemanship
To be shown at a walk, trot/jog and canter/lope, both ways of the ring, to perform at the discretion of the judge to be judged on seat, hands and the control of the horse at the requested gaits. May be asked to perform a pattern.

Pleasure
To be shown at a walk, trot/jog and canter/lope both ways of the ring, to be judged on performance, manners, and the ability to give a pleasurable ride.

Road Hack
To be shown both ways of the ring, at a walk, trot/jog, and canter/lope in novice and open classes. Extension of gaits, halt and back can be asked at judges discretion.

Equitation over Fences
To be shown over 8 – 10 fences, course to be posted. To be judged on seat, hands, and control of the horse.

Hunter over Fences
To be shown over a course of 8 – 10 fences not to exceed 2’6” in height, judged on performance, soundness and suitability.

Trail
Trail course will be open for English riders from 9:30am-12:30pm and for Western riders from 1pm-4pm with the exception of the October show. The Trail course will be open to English riders from 10am-12:30pm and Western riders until 3:30pm. Courtesy to English riders should be given before 12:30pm.

Crossrails
To be shown over a maximum of 8 fences not to exceed 18” high. Walk/trot riders must show at the trot.

Hunter Under Saddle
To be shown at a walk,trot and canter both ways of the ring, riders may be asked to hand gallop. Light contact with the horse’s mouth required. Judged on performance, soundness and suitability.

Green Horse
Open to horses in their first or second year of showing at the canter or lope.

Leadline
Open to exhibitors 8 years old and under. Horse and rider must be lead ON A LEADLINE, ATTACHED TO A HALTER, BY SOMEONE 16 YEARS OR OLDER, with appropriate footwear. May be asked to jog/trot and or turn their horses. May not exhibit in any other class except leadline trail.

Pleasure Driving Turnout
To be shown both ways of the ring at a walk, slow trot and strong trot, to stand quietly and rein back. May be asked to execute a figure 8. To be judged 40% on performance, manners and way of going, 30% on condition, fit and appropriateness of harness and vehicle,15% on appropriateness and neatness of attire, 15% on overall impression.

Pleasure Driving Reinsmanship
To be shown both ways of the ring at a walk, slow trot, working and strong trot. To stand quietly and to rein back. May be asked to execute a figure 8 and perform any other appropriate tests. To be judged 75% on handling of reins and whip control, posture and overall appearance of driver, 25% on the condition of harness and vehicle, and neatness of attire.
